Storm Clouds At Sea
     

1. Wet paper with clean water and complete steps 2 - 6 before it dries
2. Brush on horizontal strokes of Raw Sienna - leave some gaps
3. Brush in some Light Red where the base of the clouds will be
4. Loosely mix Light Red and Ultramarine and form dark clouds
5. Add a bit more Ultramarine to the mix and build up the tones in the clouds
6. Use kitchen roll to restore white areas if necessary
7. Allow the page to dry
8. Paint in sea to match tones and colours in the sky - leave some dry patches to indicate broken water
9. Add distant land with a weak mix of light red and ultramarine and the rocks using a stronger mix
10. Lightly sketch and then paint boat, this provides a focal point and a sense of scale
11. Add reflections of land, boats and rocks

French Ultramarine (Blue)
Burnt Sienna or Light Red,
Yellow Ochre or Raw Sienna
